It Is Clean Up Time at Florida Grande!

Florida Grande is getting spruced up! The clubhouse has had a wash, we are replacing some sick trees and shrubbery, Dale and his crew are trimming all the shrubbery, Bruce has been mowing the Phase II area, and we have been making sure Florida Grande looks nice for your arrival.

Your lot and suite will probably need cleaning. We have had rain again this season. It was not as much as 2012, but the rain was more frequent. This means that your lot and suite are probably mildewed. Having all the lots and suites cleaned really improve the overall looks of the resort. I know several of you like to “do it yourself”, but if not, let me know and I can help facilitate the work for you.

A reminder- SET ASIDE MARCH 7th and 8th, 2014 for your Florida Grande "Days in the Old West".

Planning for our Florida Grande "Days in the Old West" continues to advance with the dates now set.  We will kick the event off with a talent show the evening of March 7th.  If you are a picker, grinner, singer, actor, now is your change to put a smile on your neighbor's faces.  Admission to this show will be a canned good to donate to a local church or food bank.  Do not miss this show!  It has the fixin's to be an evening to remember.  Anyone with a desire to perform on stage, PLEASE do not be bashful.

In the planning stage for the following day, Saturday, March 8th:

-"chuck wagon" breakfast;

-poker run/walk/ride;

-morning and afternoon wagon trains into the lawless frontier lands-think of covered wagon/stagecoach/buckboard decorated golf carts on this one;

-a "walking lunch" while shopping the "Grande Mercantile" store;

-"quarter horse racing" with real live jockeys;

-"buckboard" barrel racing;

-"walk-the-walk" afternoon finale;

-"chuck wagon" dinner (think of Blazing Saddles);

-Barn Dance- the Grande Finale- Country and Western singers, Donny and Sandy, will entertain for your listening and dancing pleasure (close your eyes and you hear Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline0.

We wanted to announce this event PLENTY EARLY so you may exercise your thinking caps.  If you have any ideas for other activities that could be worked into this program please contact Carol and Mike Sholtis.  We would love to have every resident of Florida Grande participate in some small manner for a GREAT and FUN two day Western event.  This is a major undertaking which will require heaps of planning and coordination.

First thing to remember- next season, bring along your Western wear and accessories, whether it is 1880's or 2014, Old West, the latest Western wear, or just a bandana.  And, stay tuned right here.  We will keep you updated with the latest news and information, one or two of the activitites at a time.

The event is being organized by Carol and Mike Sholtis, Lot 27, aided by an ever expanding, enthusiastic staff of Florida Grande neighbors.
